It's your special day and you don't need any extra stress or additional duties. But... there are things you need, wedding favors being one of them. With a few basic ingredients and some time, you can make your own great wedding favors in the form of cake pops.

No, they aren't just for kids. People of any age enjoy them, especially when they are decorated for the event. The best part is that they are so easy that you can get your friends to help if you need a hand.

To start off, you will need:

Cake mix of your choice

Can of frosting

Chocolate wafers or chips

Decorations

Lollipop sticks

Styrofoam block

Favor bags

Curling ribbon

Basic Instructions

Bake the cake as instructed.

Rather than keeping it in one piece, once the cake is baked and cooled, crumble it. Make sure that the cake is nice and crumbled up.

Add the frosting, one scoop at a time. You don't need a lot but it depends on how moist the cake already is. You may only need a couple big spoon fulls. It should be enough for the mixture to stick together firmly without being sloppy or goopy.

Mix the cake and the frosting well.

Roll the mixture into balls, about an inch or so in diameter, depending on the size you want as well as the size of the lollipop sticks and bags.

Push one lollipop stick into each ball.

Melt the chocolate wafers or chips in a bowl or pan. You can add a little oil to make the balls easier to dip.

Dip the cake pops into the chocolate, making sure the ball is covered. Let the excess chocolate drip off back into the bowl.

When the excess has dripped off, apply the decorations, whether sprinkles or otherwise.

Place the end of the lollipop stick into the styrofoam block to cool.

Cake pops can be placed in the fridge for faster cooling.

Once they are completely cooled and set, you can place them into the favor bags and tie them closed with curling ribbon.

Savings

Making your own wedding favors or having your friends help can save you a lot of money. It can also be a lot of fun. While these items are fairly inexpensive, the cost is solely based on the ingredients you choose. Selecting generic cake mixes and frostings helps to keep the price down more but making the cake from scratch can do so even more.
